GORGES DE GALAMUS

Gorge (glen) in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet
  • The grandiose site of the Gorges de Galamus, was undoubtedly the first inhabited place of Saint Paul, our ancestors finding refuge in the calcareous caves which pierce at this place the vertiginous walls. The hermitage and its surroundings have been classified since 1927. The Gorges de Galamus are listed in the Natural Heritage Atlas of Languedoc-Roussillon. The steep rocky walls with caves and cavities shelter a rare and protected fauna and flora.
