Castles and defenses sites in Sournia
  • During the Early Middle Ages, Sournia castle was erected but did not appear Comte de Besalu's testament of 1020, whilst all the other strongholds of the region were mentioned therein. A simple fortified castle gave shelter to most of the inhabitants to shelter.
    It was home to the Lords of Sournia, as listed below from the 12th century onwards:
